MarkUp™ is a document editing and review application designed to simplify workgroup revisions. Instead of routing multi-page printouts to every workgroup member, MarkUp replaces the paper with a single MarkUp document that looks just like the original, but that includes overlays for each reviewer, on which they make marks and annotations. MarkUp images from within any Macintosh application, creating a file with the same fonts, graphics, and layout. As each reviewer opens this MarkUp file, they are automatically given their own overlay. Each reviewer then makes comments on the MarkUp document without actually changing the integrity of the original. These comments can then be combined onto one overlay by the document originator, making the MarkUp file the basis for document review. MarkUp turns workgroup editing from unorganized chaos into a manageable process.
MarkUp works with any Macintosh application, from word processors to page-layout applications to drawing programs. With a Chooser resource, called the MarkUp Document Creator, anything you can print normally, you can print-to-disk, making it a MarkUp document.
This MarkUp demonstration is based on the stand-alone document feature. A MarkUp file can be saved as a stand-alone document for distribution; one of these files has been used here for the demo. While you won’t be able to create your own MarkUp files, you will be able to use MarkUp’s many advanced review tools on a file with one overlay.
